Hands On Hartford Celebrates MLK Day with Service
January 12th, 2010
In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this month, Hands On Hartford will host a series of service projects to promote conversation about the changes needed in our communities. These projects will provide the opportunity to work among the homeless and celebrate the vision and life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Events will be hosted at several different sites and will involve over 100 volunteers.
Project sites include MANNA’s Community Meals soup kitchen, Peter’s Retreat congregate living home for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and Betances and Sanchez elementary schools, the sites of our Center For Youth after school program.
Volunteers will be serving a special holiday meal at Community Meals, cooking and serving brunch and dinner at Peter’s Retreat and playing MLK bingo, and performing a variety of educational tasks for the children at the after school program. Sign up for any of our MLK day volunteer projects by clicking on our Project Calendar and selecting January 18th.
