University of Hartford Presents Hartford for Haiti Benefit Series

The University of Hartford Center for Community Service is sponsoring a series of events to benefit Oxfam America Haiti Relief Fund and the Connecticut Haitian American Organization.
Thursday, February 18th the University of Hartford Gospel Choir, L'Shir, LIFTED, Nat Reeves, The Hartt School Community Division and other talented artists will perform in a Benefit Concert at Lincoln Theater. Doors open at 4:30 pm and seating is open.
Honored guests include:
- Leslie Desmangles, a native of Haiti and the Charles A. Dana Research Professor of Religion and International Studies at Trinity College in Hartford.
- Henri Alexandre, attorney and member of the Connecticut Haitian American Organization: former assistant attorney general, and a native of Haiti.
- Lisa Etienne, a 2009 graduate of the University of Hartford College of Arts and Sciences. Etienne's parents and siblings are from Haiti and she still has family there.
Monetary donations will be accepted at the door as well as canned food items which will be sent to Haiti for immediate distribution.
Also, on Saturday, February 20th from 6-8 pm at the Gengras Cafe, the University of Hartford Student Government Associate presents Light The Pathway of Hope, an evening of student performances featuring student jazz bands, praise dancers, and spoken-work artists.
Admission for the event is a suggested $5 donation, which includes a complimentary luminary.
